Working Mother

It is hard to say, "bye-bye" in the morning to my almost 1-year-old. "They" say a quicker bye bye is better.  As a working Mother it is very hard so say bye bye quickly. I understand that I am helping my family by working but it is always so difficult to leave that beautiful girl. I was at the library on my lunch break yesterday and saw a bunch of Mothers with their kids. From what I could tell they were probably stay-at-home moms. They had their fancy strollers and cups of coffee on a day out at the library. Maybe they secretly wish they could be working moms? Maybe this is all stemming from the movie that I just watched- "I Don't Know How She Does It." You miss a lot of things unless you are looking for it... if that makes any sense. I will tell you that it is the best feeling trusting whoever is watching your child during the day. Right now it is my husband... of course I trust him. :) It is a good feeling to see the expressions on her face when I get home from work. I can't say that makes it all better though.

What goes up must come down

Lydia is climbing the stairs now. She thinks she is a big girl and even waves when she has climbed a stair. Well, this makes me worry a bit. How do you teach a baby that she could fall down the stairs? I am hearing others say, "teach her to climb back down on her fanny." That is probably what I will do. I have also heard of teaching to climb down the stairs on her tummy and feet first. Of course, I am right there when she is climbing the stairs but it makes me think of how it will be when she is running around the house.
This leads me to think of all the gates we have to install in the house. We already have two of the cheapy $10  gates right now. We have to get some that are made especially for staircases which can be expensive. I wonder what will happen tomorrow?

You must have been a beautiful baby

So, I am going to sound Seinfeld-like... What is the deal with everyone staring at by baby while I shop? I am not trying to be bitchy or anything. I like to go shopping and just shop with out trying to be fake. I know my baby is cute. I know how old she is. Should I carry a sign that says, "Thank you. She is 11 months old. Wave Bye-Bye." Yeah, maybe I do sound a little bitchy. It is relaxing to shop and not have to think about anything. Well, except for Lydia. Any suggestions on that?
